Million Steps for CAUSE After lockdown, this is a good opportunity to encourage everyone to get back out, alone or in groups and set themselves a target for the summer! Seeking sponsorship along the way will be a great way to support our work. A Million Steps for CAUSE is also a great way for you to Take 5 Steps to Wellbeing! No matter what you plan to do or what your target is, signing up for a Million Steps for CAUSE is a great way for you to CONNECT with others, Get ACTIVE, Take Notice, in some case to Keep Learning and of course to Give to CAUSE. Steps to get fit, steps to lose weight and steps to raise funds for CAUSE... no matter your reason, we're here to support you! Here are some ways you can take up the challenge: Set your own target of how many steps you want to achieve over what time span Do the challenge on your own or join your friends, family or work colleagues and combine all your steps' targets For example one million steps over three months – that’s about 10,000 steps a day - could you and four friends walk 2000 steps each Get sponsored for CAUSE for your efforts! Did you know: 10,000 steps a day for 100 days = 1 million steps = an awesome 500 miles - more than 18 marathons! Walk a virtual Mizen to Malin Head = 747,648 steps! A virtual walk around Ireland 1,970 miles = an astounding 4,160,640 steps! A walk around your garden could be 500 steps A lap of your local park could be at last 1000 steps This summer, you can be part of something truly amazing, taking your step forward and helping us raise vital funds that will change the lives of those struggling to care for someone living with a serious mental illness. You will receive your fundraising pack once you have set up your fundraising page for your challenge. You can sign up NOW! How do I fundraise? Set up your CAUSE fundraising page and we will send you regular tips and advice on how to fundraise for this challenge. How much does it cost to take part? It is free to take part in a Million Caring Steps for CAUSE, you’ll then raise donations as part of the challenge. We recommend setting a target of £100. Why not ask friends and family to sponsor you for £1 every day over the summer months! Can anyone take part? Anyone aged 16 or over can take part, and if you are under the age of 16, please ask a parent or guardian to get in touch with us at [email protected] How can I track my exercise? Update your page to show how many steps you have achieved against your target of a million. You can also add photo updates to your page and you can use you 100 day diary to record your steps How can I remain safe? It is important to make sure you remain safe, and follow the most up to date government guidelines when taking part in your challenge. Please note that these could change between now and when you begin your challenge. Fundraising tips: Once you create your CAUSE fundraising page you are registered. Share share share! Once your page is up and running, you can share it on social media, and encourage friends and family to sponsor you. Not everyone is online, so think about who else you can reach out to more personally to tell them about your challenge.
