About the role …

This post is a key addition to CAUSE’s advocacy service, supporting families, parents, carers and friends of those receiving mental health services.

The successful applicant will work at various locations in the Western Trust area and in the community with CAUSE colleagues, Health and Social Care staff and a range of other key stakeholders to deliver and develop advocacy and support services for families and carers. This will be through a range of services such as;

  • one-to-one advocacy
  • support group facilitation
  • Helpline support
  • engaging with carers on service and policy development

 About the person…

The successful candidate will have significant personal lived experience of supporting and caring for a loved one who has experienced serious mental illness. As this role involves interfacing with community and/or acute mental health services, it is likely that the successful candidate can demonstrate work experience within a social or healthcare environment. An interest in developments in mental health approaches, broader advocacy work and themes and trends in the field of mental health recovery will be an advantage.

The appointee will be a self-motivated person who enjoys variety in work, is prepared to work flexibly and preferably have a post-secondary level of education, and/or recognised mental health professional development courses or qualifications. These posts are part time with negotiable hours.

 Salary £24,392 pro rata (per annum based on a 35-hour week).
