Our board members/trustees are unique as they have a great insight into caring for someone living with a serious mental illness.

Leading CAUSE into the future – the power of peer

CAUSE is currently offering a leadership opportunity for carers to join its Board of Trustees.

We are a truly unique peer-led charity in NI which provides practical and emotional support to families, partners and friends with loved ones who have experienced serious mental illness. As a peer-led organisation, we want carers at the very heart of our organisation on our Board of Trustees.

If you have supported a loved one with serious mental illness, we would love to hear from you. Skills in one of the following areas would also be beneficial but not essential. Appropriate training will be provided in the role of Trustee.

  • General personnel or project management
  • Mental health or social care services
  • Marketing / PR
  • Fundraising
  • HR
  • Legal / policy
  • Accountancy

By becoming a Board member of CAUSE you will be able use your skills and experience in shaping services for other mental health carers, meet new people and experience a real sense of fulfilment from working with other Trustees and sharing their passion in contributing to CAUSE’s success.

Becoming a trustee for CAUSE is an exciting opportunity to benefit many mental health carers and really make a difference to them and their families. It can be a hugely rewarding, important and exciting role.

Northern Ireland is home to at least 30,000 charity trustees. These individuals provide charities they serve with strategic direction and are responsible for ensuring each one stays within the remit laid out in its governing document and carries out its purposes for the public benefit. Anyone can be a charity trustee provided they are over 18-years-old and are not disqualified under legislation.

Trustees not only give their time, skills and experience to a good cause, they can learn new and useful skills too.

Applications are welcomed now from individuals of all ages and backgrounds.

By becoming a Board member of CAUSE, you can enhance your professional profile, social networks and experience a real sense of fulfilment from working with other Trustees and sharing their passion in contributing to CAUSE’s success.

What would it be like leading a growing charity? Why don’t you find out…
