Do you want to develop your business, research, IT and communication skills?  

We are ideally looking for someone who is available at 2 – 3 days a week ideally for a 3 month period minimum or a year’s placement day a week and wish to develop their skills to be a Business Manager.  You will provide support growing CAUSE’s new and existing business development programme – extending our reach as far as possible around Northern Ireland.

The role will support everything from basic administration tasks to prospect research and calling, mailings, sourcing project information, compiling newsletters and drafting proposals and presentations.

You will help to form the way in which the private sector engages with the  charity giving you the opportunity to see tangible results from the projects that you are responsible for.

Key tasks and responsibilities

  • Proactively researching existing and new business prospects for CAUSE corporate support
  • Gathering content and case studies to inform upcoming initiatives
  • Contacting existing and new prospects and submitting upcoming fundraising opportunities and proposals.
  • Collating research and presenting to the Fundraising Manager in a clear and comprehensive manner
  • Drafting content for newsletters, emails, proposals and publication on our website
  • Researching Corporate Social Responsibility trends and competitor activity to inform our tailored approaches
  • Carry out research online and over the phone into local groups, businesses, trusts, foundations and others who may be interested in working with us to raise funds
  • Record your research findings and share these regularly with your CAUSE manager
  • Source and add interesting, lively content to our local social media accounts to help grow our following and increase our reach within the local community
  • Identify newsworthy stories and produce engaging communications such as press releases, blog posts and case studies

 What we're looking for

  • Computer literate and experienced in using databases
  • Strong communication skills and confident voice and face of CAUSE
  • Good organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to maintain administrative systems 
  • Ability to collect and assess information using analytical research skills – identifying key points, drawing conclusions and presenting in a clear and concise format 
  • Excellent written skills with an ability to edit documents to make them clear and compelling
  • Confident and personable telephone manner with willingness to make cold approaches to companies
  • Pro-active 'can do' attitude with an ability to work on own initiative and with minimum supervision
  • Good administrative skills
  • Good team player
  • An interest in mental health care and the services that CAUSE provides
  • The ability to recognise when to ask for support
